Florida Discontinues NPN Override: Important Update for Pandora Insurance Agents

The Florida Department of Insurance recently announced a major regulatory update that affects all insurance agencies and Enhanced Direct Enrollment (EDE) entities operating in the state. Effective immediately, the use of NPN override is no longer permitted. This change directly impacts how agencies, including Pandora Insurance, manage enrollments and appointments with carriers.

What Is NPN Override?

The National Producer Number (NPN) is a unique identifier assigned to licensed insurance agents. Previously, some agencies and EDE platforms used NPN override to route enrollments through the agency’s NPN rather than the individual agent’s. While this was once a common practice, it is now being phased out in Florida to ensure greater transparency and regulatory compliance.

What This Means for Pandora Insurance Agents

At Pandora Insurance, we’re committed to helping our agents stay ahead of industry changes and remain fully compliant with all state and federal regulations. With the end of NPN override in Florida:

  • Each agent must be individually appointed with every carrier they intend to sell through.

  • Agencies cannot use a blanket NPN for enrollment submissions.

  • Compliance with Florida state law is mandatory, especially when using platforms like HealthSherpa and other EDE tools.

What Pandora Insurance Is Doing to Support You

We understand that this change may require some operational adjustments. That’s why Pandora Insurance is actively developing new tools and resources to help our agents:

  • Manage enrollments efficiently without NPN override

  • Track appointments and carrier authorizations in one place

  • Stay updated on compliance requirements across all states

We’ll be rolling out these solutions soon and will provide training and support to make the transition as seamless as possible.

Stay Compliant: Ensure Proper Appointments

This is a great time to review your agency’s carrier appointments. Please verify that every licensed agent working with Pandora Insurance is properly appointed with the carriers they intend to represent. Failure to do so may result in rejected applications or compliance issues with the state of Florida.
